With our new music video scheduled for September (with Brian Pulido
again) I thought it fitting to recap our last music video for the movie,
The Graves. The song we chose for the movie is a fan favorite,
"Vampires Don’t Exist." The video is a cross promotional vehicle for
Calabrese and the movie. The scenes for the music video we shot were
also used in the movie. We are featured at the beginning of the movie.
We play Calabrese, the band that the heroines come to see before they

A Calabrese Family History Lesson
In anticipation of our shows in Italy, I thought I’d share
some Calabrese family history. I received this information
from my Aunt. So, get ready for a pop quiz at our next show!
Spoiler Alert – We have no ties to the Mob (that
we’ll admit).
Our great grandpa, Vincenzo Raphael Calabrese, was born in
1878. His family lived on a farm and grew grapes in a town
called Foggia. It’s located on the Adriatic Sea side of
Italy but in the interior, parallel to Naples.

Part 2 of the Brian Pulido Interview is now posted on the

JC - So how the heck did you jump into comics after being
that involved in movies, commercials and music videos?
BP - ...Something was gnawing at my soul more or less. We
were there on set and I had that Talking Heads song that
says "What the hell am I doing with my life" and I
realized at that point my own goals were kind of on hold. I
was an Assistant Director; I was serving others, apposed to
having the balls to have my own vision come to life. It was
really at that time that I just said “ok, I'll make my
play”...And that was it. That was the last job I did. That
coincided with several of my comic projects coming to life
within a month of that.
Thanks to Bianca Vargas, our new album has been named
"Calabrese III - They Call Us Death." We
will be sending her that signed studio drum skin as soon as
Davey can remove it from his drums!

Happy Halloween!
We are pleased to announce that we have a winner for
"Name the new Album" Contest! We had
thousands of names to choose from, but only the best bled
through. To be fair, we had several people submit
this same winning title, so we took the person who submitted
it first. Alright then! Drum roll,
please. The new name for the next Calabrese CD
is…..wait for it…..wait for it…
"Calabrese III - They Call Us Death," submitted by

I know it's a total let down, and the name you submitted was
way better, but like we said...it was a hard choice. Thanks

Calabrese Comic Book!
The Calabrese comic book is starting to take form. The
script has been approved and the pencils are starting. We
decided to go legit on this comic and make it a full color
rcok and roll explosion. We tricked…I mean, we secured D.W.
Frydendall (http://www.dfrydendall.net/
) to do the coloring on this comic (you might
recognize his art from some of our t-shirts) Because
of this, the street date has been pushed back to January
2009.

The Creative Mind Of Brian Pulido - Part 1 . Origins
I
met with Brian at a Borders bookstore here in
Arizona
, the same one where we first met to discuss theVoices of the Dead
music video he directed. I brought my trusty hand held
recorder, and a few pages of questions with the intent to
dig deeper into the creative force that is Brian
Pulido. Not only is Brian a writer, director,
producer, and comic creator (Lady
Death,
Evil Ernie) but has a
positive “can do†attitude, and entrepreneurial spirit
that I admire. His current movie project, The
Graves, that he wrote and directed (and
features Calabrese), has been added to the After
Dark Horrorfest – 8 Films to Die For. TheAfter
Dark Horrorfest runs for one week in theatres across the
United States
from January 29 – February 5, making it the largest
nationwide film festival. Be sure to check it out. Now on
with the interview!

The Goon -10 Years Of Punching Zombies
Jimmy - You state your turning point was the 2001 Wizard
World convention in Chicago?
Eric – Yeah [Laughs] it was pretty pathetic. I bought a
table for about one hundred bucks, I had been drawing some
Buffy comics for Dark Horse but that stuff dried up. I was
doing some inking work for Marvel and all that work dried
up. So I didn’t have any work coming in. I had this Artist
Alley table at the convention and I only did one sketch for
twenty bucks so it didn’t even pay for the table. I drove
out there by myself and I drove back all pissed off. It was
a point where I thought “is this going to work or should I
quite?†It was a six or seven hour drive and I had the
whole time to think about it. It was pretty sad but I
realized I was never able to do what I wanted to do. So I
decided to self publish my book to see what happens.
